ABOUT Jeff Tollafson
Jeff is a potter working out of his home studio in Greenland, NH. He enjoys creating a diverse range of animal sculptures with the aim of crafting distinctive figures that exhibit unique personalities. He is always seeking out new ideas as well as exploring various concepts, interesting poses or even the representation of extinct or fantastical creatures. One of his favorite aspects of working in the studio is developing innovative techniques to address obstacles or challenges that arise, which often lead his work in new and unexpected directions.
His pottery journey began several years ago throwing bowls and pots on a pottery wheel. Over time, he transitioned to hand-building, which has allowed greater creative freedom. Currently he utilizes slabs, extruded cylinders and coils to construct foundational elements for my pieces, which are then modified to achieve the desired final outcome. He primarily works with white stoneware fired to cone 6 and typically finish my pieces with stains, underglaze coloring, or a simple glaze.
