ABOUT MEGHAN SKEA, PRIMITIVE HOUSE FARM
At Primitive House Farm, “keeping it simple” is more than a philosophy: it’s a way of life. We believe that everyone should have a touch of farm living and all-natural goodness in their skincare and bath products, and our family built our business around this back-to-basics idea.
Located in coastal southern Maine, Primitive House Farm has been a family-run enterprise providing all manner of organic self-care goods and beauty products for over 15 years. Primitive House Farm began with co-founders Nancy and Meghan Skea. Meghan, working alongside her mother on the family farm, followed in her mother’s creative footsteps, creating all-natural herbal and apothecary products. While Meghan’s mother passed away a few years ago, she continues to carry on the legacy of her mother’s creativity through her work at Primitive House Farm.
Everything we produce is handmade with love, from our luxurious shea butter lotions to our clean-burning virgin coconut soy wax candles. We take things slow, creating our soaps through time-honored techniques of curing lye and oil for weeks instead of purchasing pre-manufactured materials to speed up processes. If we don't let our family use it, we won’t sell it, meaning our products never contain phthalates, sulfates, or parabens. We never test on animals, and send a portion of our proceeds to charities all around the world who work to protect animal welfare.
